Winter & summer tip: The unique Sellaronda
On skis in winter and on bikes in summer
In summer with the MTB
We are not exaggerating when we talk about a unique biking experience in the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Sellaronda takes you through meadows and over mountain passes on your mountain bike and in doing so you cross the four Dolomite valleys: Alta Badia, Arabba, Val di Fassa and Val Gardena. The unique panoramic views of the Dolomites are your constant companion.
Incidentally, you can transport your bike on the cable cars giving you easy access to the Gardena, Campolongo, Pordoi and Sella mountain passes. The valley descents are mainly on single trails and only partly on the road. The lifts for the tours are open from June to September.
In winter on skis
Experience the spectacular ski tour over the four Dolomite passes around the Sella massif. This tour connects the Ladin valleys of Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Arabba and Val di Fassa and can easily be completed in one day in either direction. To enable you to find your way around the slopes, the clockwise tour is signposted in orange and anti-clockwise in green. For this ski tour you definitely need some stamina and you should also be able to ski both well and safely. After all, the Sellaronda is 40km long, 27km of which are ski slopes. Here are a few more tips: Allow about 6 hours for the tour and ensure you start early enough in order to complete the entire tour before the lifts close. It is very important to check the weather and snow conditions beforehand. In bad weather, some lifts may remain closed.
